Movie reviews-Shubh Mangal Saavdhan 2017

Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, Brijendra Kala, Shubhankar Tripathi

Director: R S Prasanna

Rating: 3 Stars (Out of 5)

Nobody so much as utters 'erectile dysfunction', or 'impotence', in Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, a cockeyed take on a predicament that is no smiling matter. The film's male protagonist isn't up to the challenge of going the whole hog in bed. His battle with his dodgy libido is euphemistically referred to as "gent's problem": very much in trust with the Delhi NCR middle-class socio-cultural surroundings of the story.

Pidgin English holds sway here. This is the Hindi heartland: the hero swears 'loyaltiness' to his would-be bride and marriage is planned in clumsy but innocuous ways. Trouble erupts when the hero's attempts at expressing youthful sexual desire fail to deliver the desired results and two cantankerous families get sucked into a series of slugfests as the youthful couple look for ways around their predicament.

This is highly tricky terrain but director R S Prasanna skirts around the potential pitfalls with the help of loads of maturity and a time and again light touch. The result: this comedic tale on love and lust caught in a zone of grave uncertainty never flirts with prurience.

Prasanna is aided by the lead pair - Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, both bright and boundlessly energetic - as well as a wonderful supporting cast (Seema Pahwa, Brijendra Kala Chitranjan Tripathy, Neeraj Sood). jointly they ensure that the dual glue of plain humour and believable situations prevents the ticklish central concept from falling apart.

But hang on, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan isn't flawless. Especially off-key is the overdramatic climax (in which an act of foolhardiness by the hero seems wholly at odds with the otherwise realistic tenor of the tale). One or two other passages in the lead-up to the convenient conclusion to the newly married couple's dilemma might also have done with some pruning and layering.

Be that as it may, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, a remake of the director's own 2013 Tamil sleeper hit Kalyana Samayal Saadham, is worthy of round of applause for the way it breaks the patriarchal notions of masculinity that have been perpetuated ad infinitum by the popular strain of Indian cinema that has been built around a mard who feels no dard. Here the hero's torture and bewilderment are real and his frailties, physical and emotional, aren't blamed in the lead anybody else but himself. It is he who's got to sort it out in the mind and the stiff, with, of course, a great deal of help from the woman in his life.

The drama is predicated on his indecisive relationship with the heroine, a girl with a mind of her own, as well as on his run-ins with his own parents and with the girl's baffled and exasperated father and mother. Parts of the latter portions strain credibility a bit since a delicate personal problem going as communal as it does is a touch difficult to digest.
Such irritants are minor and the spirit of the film is generally pleasant and innocuous even when it directs sharp barbs at the communal order that imposes its standard idea of mardangi on all men, without allowing space for the possibility of behavioural variations.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the story of Gurgaon boy Mudit Sharma (Ayushmann Khurrana) and a Moti Bagh girl Sugandha Joshi (Bhumi Pednekar) whose paths cross in Nehru Place, plunges into the heart of the matter without much foreplay. The guy is shy and the girl has had an overly protected upbringing that prevented free mixing with member of the opposite sex. It takes them a while and many a slip (including the hug of a bear, literally) to find ordinary ground and get their parents' acquiescence. And then the twosome hits a wall.

Mudit decides to give pre-marital s*x a shot because he doesn't want to waste any time getting to know Sugandha after marriage. Their clumsy attempt stops at inelegant snuggling. Mudit discovers that he cannot consummate his passion. The director is at his best in these difficult moments of the script. He keeps it tight and direct and looks the difficulty in the eye without slipping into any trace of vulgarity.
As the lovers kiss gawkily and attempt a quickie in a room in the girl's DDA apartment, the director takes recourse to the voice of radio raconteur Neelesh Misra to narrate a tangential story of a boy who devoured bottles of Banta soda waiting interminably to muster the courage to profess his love for a girl who catches his fancy. This sets the tone for the rest of the film, apart from for the rather dangly conclusion.

Mudit sinks into deep despair when he experiences first-hand the consequences of his performance anxiety that he suggests they call off the marriage. Sugandha puts her foot down and leaves for Haridwar, the venue of the wedding. Mudit drags himself there with such an air of despondency that Sugandha is compelled to give him a piece of her mind. "Muskurao hamari shaadi ho rahi hai (Smile, we are getting married), she exhorts him only to elicit a limp response.

In one first half prospect, Sugandha's mother, played superbly by Seema Pahwa, recites to her daughter a poem that she penned 30 years ago after her honeymoon and then likens the s**ual politics of marriage to Alibaba of the Arabian Nights tale trying to open the door to the treasure hidden in the thieves' cave. This sequence follows a shot of a soggy biscuit dropping into a cup of tea by way of an analogy for Mudit's state. That is the farthest this film is willing to go bring home the nature of the hero's infirmity.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan stays strictly within the limits of suitability in dealing with a thorny theme that could easily have plunged into overt ineptness. Lightheartedness is the cloak it wears to conceal its uneasy patches. That it succeeds in that endeavour more often than not is a measure of the director's ability.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, breezy sufficient at its core not to be bogged down by the weight of its daring and untested essential plot point, is never less than amusing.

RBI Says New Rs 50 Notes Coming Shortly Five Things To Know Wiki

Just a month after the announcement of new Rs 20 notes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday said that it will also bring new Rs 50 banknotes shortly in movement. The new Rs 50 notes will be in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing signatures of RBI governor Urjit R Patel, the central bank said in a press release. With "Fluorescent Blue" as the base colour, the new note "has motif of Hampi with Chariot on the reverse," it added.

Apart from the colour, the new Rs 50 message has different designs and geometric patterns aligning with the overall scheme, both at the obverse and reverse, the Reserve bank further affirmed

Here are the five features of the new Rs 50 note:
1. The new Rs 50 note will be in a dimension of 66 mm x 135 mm.

2. It will have a see through catalog with denominational numeral 50 on the front side of the note which means that the small design printed both on the front (hollow) and back (filled up) of the note in the middle of the vertical band next to the watermark, will have an accurate back-to-back registration. The devise will appear as one when seen against the light.

3. On the front side, denominational numeral 50 will also be on paper in Devnagari along with a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre.

4. The Ashoka Pillar emblem will be on paper on the front-right side. The guarantee clause, Governor’s signature with a promise clause and the RBI emblem will feature towards the right of Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait.

5. The year of printing would be mention on the back-left of the note and it will also have a Swachh Bharat logo with a slogan.

All the banknotes in the value of Rs 50 in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender. RBI is also expected to introduce new Rs 200 notes in the coming months to ease pressure on lower-denomination currencies that are in short supply. Minister of State for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar told news agency IANS that Rs 200 note, printing of which had by now begun, would be in circulation soon.

Movie Reviews Toilet Ek Prem Katha Wiki Now

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Anupam Kher
Director: Shree Narayan Singh

Rating: (3/5)

From Salman Khan to Priyanka Chopra, several Bollywood bigwigs selected up a broom to extend their support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Akshay Kumar took it to the next level and strong-willed to be the mission's official cheerleader and feature in a full-length film revolving around it.

It is no surprise, then, that some of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha's dialogues sound like something straight out of a public service message - "Biwi paas chahiye, toh ghar mein sandaas chahiye," "problem shauch ki nahi, soch ki hai."

The story is this. Keshav (Akshay) is a 36-year-old manglik who has been not capable to find a bride. Enter Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar). After some initial stalking turned into love, the two get married. But all hell breaks loose when Jaya is wake up at 4am by the ladies of the village to join their "lota party".

Turns out, present is not a single toilet in the village, and the women go into the fields while it is still dark to relieve themselves. Jaya refuses to respond nature's call in the open, and walks out of her marital home until Keshav builds a toilet for her.

difficulty is, the village elders will not budge - "Jis aangan mein tulsi lagate hai, wahaan shauch karna shuru kar de?" Under these circumstances, will Keshav and Jaya ever be reunited?

Since Baby (2015), Akshay Kumar has not let the loyalist in him take a backseat. In Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, too, he launches into lofty monologues about the menace of open defecation, especially its impact on women. He singlehandedly fights against the "sabhyata" and "sanskriti" squad and vows to get a toilet installed in the village. The storytelling can get tawdry at times, but Akshay manage to bring earnestness into his character.

Bhumi Pednekar makes Jaya individual; at no point does the audience feel like it is an actor essaying the part on screen. She is remarkable as the school topper who stands up for her right.

Some parts of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha could very well be an election campaign for the ruling party. Sample this: Who is responsible for the toilet scams worth thousands of crores? The people, of course! The film tells us that the government is doing its best to install toilets, but the people just won't change their mindset and let that happen. There is also a dialogue along the lines of, "Jab humare pradhan mantri desh ke bhalayi ke liye notebandi karwa sake hai, toh hum itna sa nahi kar sakte?"

What workings for the film is the hinterland humour. In an elaborate sequence, Akshay Kumar's character gets married to a buffalo to get rid of his "manglik dosh". It is the laughs which take absent your unease about the extent of the two-and-a-half-hour-long film.

If you can manage to ignore its preachiness at times, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is worth the price of your ticket, GST included.

Good News-Kerala High Court lifts life ban on S Sreesanth

Comment page----

Kerala High Court has lifted the ban imposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on cricketer  Sreesanth. The seamier was charged earlier for his taking part in the spot fixing scandal in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was expelled in September 2013 for his alleged spot fixing in the IPL and he was charged alongside two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. However, he was acquit in the spot-fixing case in July 2015.

The latest growth comes as a relief to the bowler who has been fighting for justice since the acquittal but BCCI continued to hold out and didn't lift the life ban imposed on him. In a hearing in March, Kerala HC sought BCCI’s stand on the plea filed by Sreesanth which challenged the life ban. The bowler had then filed a petition challenging the BCCI's verdict not to lift the ban despite being exonerated by the Delhi High Court in 2015.

The player had argue that not lifting the ban violated his constitutional rights considering BCCI had taken into account the same charges applied on him by the Delhi Police for which he was later blank by the Court. In 2013, BCCI had suspended him and ordered an enquiry following his arrest in May 2013. He argued that BCCI's enquiry team had submit the report without giving him a due chance of hearing.
But he was given a chance to provide his version in writing later although the supplementary report was filed without taking the written version into due contemplation. He was then issued a show cause notice before the ban was compulsory on him.

BCCI's affidavit earlier in the year said, "The standard of proof required under a penal statute is much higher than the corroboration required for a disciplinary inquiry. Therefore, on an appreciation of the same evidence, one may not be guilty of criminal penalty but can be found guilty for violating the internal disciplinary rules of an association."

After the judgment on Monday, S Sreesanth wrote on Twitter, "God is great..thanks for the all the love and support".

Jab Harry Met Sejal movie reviews-Rukh Khan Anushka Sharma

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma
Director: Imtiaz Ali

Rating: 2 Stars (Out of 5)

First half: breezy but unabashedly banal. Second half: riddle with toe-curling romantic mush. Sum total: a journey without maps that weaves concentric circle around sweet nothings and empty prittle-prattle. That, in a nutshell, is Imtiaz Ali's perambulatory rom com Jab Harry Met Sejal. It vegetation you wishing they hadn't met.

A positive man who isn't getting any younger, a superior girl who has a whole life ahead of her and a not-so-brief encounter in Europe that takes the rootless duo across several picturesque locations add up to a mothballed bromide that holds no real surprises.

To be sure, Jab Harry Met Sejal possesses the unfettered, Sufi spirit of Ali's previous free-wheeling explorations of love and longing. It, however, lacks the flash of ideational, empirical and tonal uniqueness that livened up parts of those earlier films.

SRK's return to straight lover boy terrain - he plays a louche but lonely tourist guide in Europe - does not yield the expected magic. Anushka, in the guise of a young, chirpy lawyer looking for a lost engagement ring, is high-spirited enough to push this plotless whimsy the length of for a while. In the end, the task proves too heavy for her not to be weighed down by its demands.

Not that there is not anything in Jab Harry Met Sejal for hardcore SRK fans but those moments come only in fits and starts as he dons the persona of the footloose Harindar 'Harry' Singh Nehra, who makes no bones about his womanizing tendencies and even brags shamelessly on the subject of his amorous conquests while admitting to the many ways he's got into trouble owing to his rampaging libido. He is a superficially charming man all precise, but not particularly likeable.

Sejal Zhaveri, on the other hand over, is a diamond merchant's snooty daughter who does not think much of Harry's calling and loses no opportunity to take jabs at it. Yet she has no qualms in taking offence when the guy dismiss her as "nice, sweet and sister type". There is a bound to shallowness.

The stunning locations are obviously eye-catching, but surely surface gloss, star power, lively music and sparkling camerawork can never be enough to turn a erratic and whimsical film into a convincing two-hander about a pair of individuals thirsting for more than what their lives have accessible them.

Harry seeks true love. Sejal, too, is on a voyage of finding. Do they get what they are looking for? Not a opening in hell. So flabby is this flighty film that it moves only in hops and skips. It never really takes off.

Jab Harry Met Sejal is cinema's equivalent of a shiny bauble that glitter wholly in vain. Watch it only if you fancy a vicarious romp from first to last Europe with an off-colour megastar wearisome hard to get going.

Review revealed about the Bajaj Pulsar NS160

The new Pulsar NS160 marks Bajaj’s onslaught in the quality commuter category. Locking horns against the likes of the Yamaha FZ-S FI, Honda CB Hornet 160R, Suzuki Gixxer and the TVS Apache RTR 160, the Pulsar NS160 aims to pull towards you buyers looking for an efficient yet stylish commuter motorcycle. Here is a quick impression of the five things concerning the Pulsar NS160 that caught our attention

The Pulsar NS160 fundamentally sports a five year old design. But the way the designer at Bajaj have played with the dull grey makes the Pulsar NS160 look contemporary even today. The dual-tone paint schemes, edgy headlamp, tank addition and the new belly pan highlight the bike’s well-developed character, making it position out in the crowd.

Bajaj has strike a nice balance of comfort and sportiness with the riding position of the Pulsar NS160. The raised clip-on handlebar keeps your torso upright and the sculpted boiler allows a good grip on the bike. These joined with the rear set footpegs give the Pulsar NS160 a big bike feel, similar to its elder sibling.

The Pulsar NS160 is 10 kilograms lighter than the Pulsar NS200 gratitude to lighter wheels, skinnier forks and regular tubeless tyres. And the results are imposing. The lighter front conclusion and narrow profile front tyre makes the Pulsar NS160 a very lively motorcycle, ready to change direction at the drop of a hat.

The Pulsar NS160 engine gets a flat torque spread, more in line with a person along for the ride motorcycle than a sporty offering. This makes is very easy to ride in traffic. You can whack open the throttle at any given second for a quick overtake.  However, this also makes the recital a little unexciting. With a suspension and brake pedal setup this good, we would have liked the engine to pack a punch.

The Pulsar NS160 feels fairly horizontal when you are puttering around the city. However, go past 5,000rpm and it has its fair share of feelings. You can feel a buzz on the handlebars, foot pegs and the fuel tank which gets frustrating after a while. Even the exhaust note past 5,000rpm sounds unpleasant after a while.
