Jeep is all set to launch its much awaited Compass SUV
tomorrow at an happening in Mumbai. The event will mark Jeep announcing its
prices for the scope. Deliveries we hear will not start immediately and will
start during the festive period. The Compass is by far the biggest launch of
this year and the most awaited. It would be the most reasonably priced Jeep and
let us remind you that the Compass had notched up 1000 bookings in three days.
You can book the extent online or at any one of the dealerships with an amount
of Rs 50,000. Bookings have soared since then and nearly everyone of them are
for the top-end diesel.
The Compass will compete with the like of the Hyundai Tucson
with a length of 4,398mm. There are two engine options- a 160 bhp, 250 Nm
Multi-air gas and the 170 bhp, 350 Nm, diesel. However again Jeep will offer
the diesel only at the moment with the petrol coming in later. The Compass will
also have a 6-speed manual as standard. The petrol will come with a 7-speed DCT
gearbox plus Jeep will also bring in a diesel usual in early next year. You
will five variants and five trims with good equipment levels including a 7 inch
touchscreen with all features you would expect (6 airbags, rear view camera
Apple Car Play, Android Auto, electronic handbrake etc). The 4wd representation
has the Select Terrain system with dissimilar modes.
Pricing as always is the key and have learnt its lesson
earlier, Jeep is look for an destructive starting price ranging from Rs 17-18
lakh for the base 2wd manual diesel. The top-end is expected to be priced at Rs
25 lakh.
