Volkswagen India has exported about 2.10 lakh Vento sedans
to Mexico till date attractive one of the most export cars from the country.
Overall the Indian arm of the German car maker has exported over 2.50 lakh
made-in-India cars to Mexico that includes various variant of left-hand drive
Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan. Volkswagen also claims that the Vento has
now become the third highest selling passenger car part in Mexico. Production
of Volkswagen Vento started in 2009 and the company began its exports to Mexico
after four years with the Vento in 2013. The export volumes to Mexico
contribute to more than half of the total construction at the Volkswagen plant
in Pune, Maharashtra. The India-made VW Vento replaced the Jetta Classico in
the Mexican market and since then the demand for the car has increased
drastically due to its design, build quality, safety standards, comfort as well
as space. Volkswagen India exports its vehicle to over 35 country across North
America, South America, Africa and Asia. Till date, the company has export over
3.10 lakh cars. The latest delivery to Mexico will be delivered by Höegh
Trigger, the main vessel of Höegh Autoliners, which is also the world?s largest
pure car and means of transportation carrier.
During FY 2016-17 the company export a total of 86,852 cars
registering a growth of 14.3% making it the fifth largest auto exporter on or
after India. Volkswagen India had export 75,989 units in FY 2015-16.

Volkswagen has invest about ? 825 million (? 5720 crore) at
its Chakan plant, which has achieved a localisation level of just about 82 percent,
without engines and transmissions. The facility has a workforce of 4000
employees and it has been in service in three shifts since March 2016.
